Educating the Whole Child: my journey as an educator . . .

Meet Clare

I have been a Middle Years Educator, for five+ years and love to teach thematically. I have a background in English, Social Studies, Outdoor Education and the Dramatic Arts. I am more than excited to share my stories, teaching philosophies and ideas here with you.

Values & Goals

As teachers, we must constantly re-evaluate what we hold as our values. I believe middle school students are at an age where they are too often ignored and disgruntled. As such, it has always been my goal to help students and youth recognize values in themselves. Once you recognize your own worth, you can begin to be heard by others. Teachers' roles in students’ lives can alter how they not only perceive school — but how they will carry themselves through life. If I can make even one child realize their own capabilities and self-worth, then I have done my job as a teacher.

Indigenous Landbased Outdoor Exploration
The outdoors opens opportunities for people to learn about themselves. It gives students the chance to immerse themselves in what it means to be human, reflecting often.
